We now have a grow stand so we can grow some of our smaller
orchids in the house. It was easy to make, fairly inexpensive and well
worth the effort.
The frame was built using a very good grade of pine. It was created
to the correct dimensions so that it would support 4 black plastic humidity
trays to be used for each of the shelves. The trays make it much easier
to water and help maintain a better humidity in the growing area.
We
also use a small indoor waterfall with an ultrasonic fogger to help maintain a
good humidity level for our orchids.
You can find plans to build a stand like ours along with all the
accessories from our good friends at Kelley's
Korner.
Here
you can see the first flowering orchid we had under our grow lights, an Angraecum
leonis.
It is extremely fragrant
after dark and when it was in bloom we were able to enjoy it nightly without
making a special trip out to the greenhouse.
