One of our favorite garden areas started out as a
display bed for hostas. A corner of our property contains a
small number of deciduous trees that provide an area of shade and filtered
sunlight. We planted many varieties of hostas that enjoy the shady
conditions this area had to offer.
As time went on, we discovered many other plants that will also grow in this
area. Many are early spring wild flowers that go dormant as summer
approaches. These types of plants are perfect for the hosta garden.
They emerge and flower before the hostas start to grow and then go dormant just
as the large hosta leaves begin to unfold.
Others remain year round but make excellent companions to our hostas. We now
share with you many
other plants that enjoy the partial shade conditions in this area
of our garden.
